pencil colored digitally
I haven't done anything in pencil in a long time. I have been using micron pens in just about everything I've drawn for over a year now to make myself become more confident in the lines that I put down. My goal was to learn to accept my creativity and not acknowledge my mistakes as mistakes. This is because I am such a perfectionist (but by no means perfect!). I can truly say that it has helped me to relax and enjoy creating art like I did when I was a little girl. I enjoyed drawing this and felt like I was indulging in having the ability to erase when I wanted to. I loved creating this! I love the feeling of it .
Thanks for looking :)

Thursday Challenge: Broken
Thursday, December 27, 2007

My daughter ran to her Daddy quietly as I got ready for bed the other night with her hand holding a gentle fist. She whispered
in a soft, yet troubled tone, " Daddy, the best one we got broke,"
"What's that sweetie?" her daddy replied looking at her hand, " What's that you got there?"
"It was the best one, and it broke when we wrapped it" Tears started to almost form, and her lip was beginning to droop down with a pout.
She opened up her hand, and there lay the most beautiful clear glass star with red tips flaring out from the ends.
The star was shining in the light from the lamp she held it under, and all but three points were still intact.
She looked up at her daddy and almost began to cry and asked, " Can we super glue it?" when he replied,
"It's ok, go find a safe hiding place for it, until we can make it better."
She balled the precious star back up in her hand and cupped it with the other to ensure that the broken pieces would not fall out
without her knowing it and slowly walked away with a small smile on her face with the assurance that everything would be alright.
She wanted to give this to me for Christmas. Jay told me what had happened the night she was secretly wrapping it.

“You don't need somebody to interpret for you
what a beautiful sunrise it is. ”
Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh
I never get up early when I don't have to, but I do get up every morning during the week at 6:00 to help my children get ready for school and my husband off to work. Even though I'm up, I don't always see the sunrise. Mostly it is because clouds are in the way and getting to breathe in a beautiful sunrise just doesn't happen for me every single day. Yet every time I get to experience one it is always a special gift and my days feel more complete!
Below are funny morning quotes that I found:
"The average, healthy, well-adjusted adult gets up at seven-thirty in the morning feeling just plain terrible."
Jean Kerr
"The older generation thought nothing of getting up at five every morning - and the younger generation doesn't think much of it either."
John J. Welsh
"If people were meant to pop out of bed, we'd all sleep in toasters."
Author unknown
"No human being believes that any other human being has a right to be in bed when he himself is up."
Robert Lynd
"I don't think jogging is healthy, especially morning jogging. If morning joggers knew how tempting they looked to morning motorists, they would stay home and do sit-ups."
Rita Rudner

It was a beautiful day :) my daughter and her daddy jumped on the trampoline while my son sat with me in the warm sun. I took pictures of everything and he read his book. I love days like this!

acrylic and mixed media on 4x4 canvas
Its been a long time since I've painted on canvas, I didn't realize how much I have missed it.
The inspiration for this comes from my little snow pea plant that is growing inside my tiny green house that I have in my kitchen. I planted the little pea seed a couple of weeks ago for some garden company! I just love planting seeds and waiting for them to grow. It is such a miracle and a mystery to me every time I see the little green seedlings emerge! I titled this art "the hope of winter" because I found a way to keep my garden alive no matter what season it is. The little bird represents the beautiful birds that are still hanging around my back yard singing their songs. Each time I hear them they remind me of spring :)

I enjoyed painting today, its been a while since I've painted something. This was a little harder to do than I thought because of the limited use of colors. Over all I think I like how it turned out. :)
