Book Tutorial +
This is the first book that I ever made. I was 9 or 10 at the time. Hopefully yours can turn out a little more sophisticated than my first book ^_^
To get started:
Fold the cardboard in half and set it aside. If you're using staples to bind the pages together then fold all the paper in half and staple all the pages together at the top and bottom of the spine then set it aside. If you want to go a little more advanced and use thread to bind the pages together then poke three holes in the middle of the folded pages. Try to stay at least a half an inch away from the edges.
To sew the pages together:
1. Pull the needle through the middle hole starting from the outside of the folded pages (called signatures)
2. Go to the top hole and pull the needle through to the back
3. Skip middle hole and pull the needle through the bottom hole
4. Last pull the needle through the middle hole and tie off the thread in the back with a double or triple knot
Your sewn or stapled pages are now called a book block.
To make the cover:
Cut your decorative paper so that it is at least 2 inches larger than the cardboard. Then paste the cardboard to the back of the decorative paper. Smoothe out any wrinkles.
Paste the corners over first.
Then paste all four edges over.
Putting it all together:
Paste the end pages of the book block to the inside of the cover.
Now decorate the cover with a sticker or paste whatever you like. Enjoy!
